After care for tattoos

Muse Permanent Makeup Studio

For Permanent Lips

* Limit face mask wearing during the initial healing period (first 7 days). If a mask must be worn then make sure you change it regularly as bacteria will be within the mask and transferred to the healing wound (lips) if reusing the same mask. Unfortunately wearing face masks can increase the risk of infection. Please use mask insert with disposable masks I will provide you with for 10 days after the procedure.

* Please check if you're not scheduling around your period, make sure you prep with honey scrub -it's a must for good results. Order antiviral (Zovirax, Valtrex) if you have cold sores and have your favorite lipsticks with you.

Following the procedure, the area may be slightly puffy for 12-24 hours post procedure.
Do not eat for 4 hours, you may have cold drinks/ smoothies with the straw.
On the night of the procedure wipe lips with warm soapy water and cotton round- every hour after the procedure.
Starting from day 2 you will need to keep your lips clean and hydrated on an as-needed basis. (clean morning, night, and after food and any potential bacteria exposures).
Using a clean Q-tip apply a VERY thin layer of the provided Ointment in your aftercare kit 2-3 times a day for a week or until all peels are off. Do not double dip!
DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and loss of pigment.
NO acidic cleansers, exfoliating creams, makeup or any other products on the treated area for 1 week.
Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 3-4 weeks after the procedure. This may cause hyperpigmentation if exposed to the UV light. Use SPF 30-50 or more to protect the area if traveling
Avoid hot, long showers, heavy sweating, pools, jacuzzis, and saunas for 7 days.
NO facials treatments, lip injections for a month.
If you do Laser, make sure to inform your technician and cover the area before the procedure. Lasers can remove the pigment and leave blotchy coverage, and/or change the color.
Avoid sleeping on your face Until you done with peeling (3-5 days).
Drink through a straw, even hot coffee or tea until the lips are healed (first 3-5 days).
Avoid spicy, salty foods that come into contact with the treated area for few days.

Long term care

Once the area has healed, use sunscreen on the treated area daily to prevent pigment from fading prematurely.
The use of skin care products with retinoids and acids around the treated area will cause pigment to fade prematurely. Always remember that cosmetic tattoo is a 2 step process and touchup is important for full results.
When getting a facial/chemical peel or laser treatment, inform the technician of your permanent cosmetics.

For Permanent Eyeliner

Following the procedure, the area may be slightly puffy for 1-2 days. The wider the eyeliner, the more swelling to be expected. Avoid foods high in sodium and try to sleep somewhat propped up on your back for the first couple of nights to reduce puffiness.
On the night of the procedure wipe your eyes with warm soapy water and cotton round, and continu 1 day for next 4-5 days
Starting day 5 you may stop wiping, and keep the area dry during normal lifestyle events (except showering, washing your face, etc), but make sure to dry the area with tissue right after.
If you start to feel dry in the area of tattooing you can use a clean Q-tip to apply a SUPER thin layer of the ointment in your aftercare kit 2-3 times a day for at least a week or until all scabs are off.
NO acidic cleansers, creams, makeup or any other products on the treated area for one week.
Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 3-4 weeks after the procedure or wear shades.
