For Permanent Lips
* Limit face mask wearing during the initial healing period (first 7 days). If a mask must be worn then make sure you change it regularly as bacteria will be within the mask and transferred to the healing wound (lips) if reusing the same mask. Unfortunately wearing face masks can increase the risk of infection. Please use mask insert with disposable masks I will provide you with for 10 days after the procedure.
* Please check if you're not scheduling around your period, make sure you prep with honey scrub -it's a must for good results. Order antiviral (Zovirax, Valtrex) if you have cold sores and have your favorite lipsticks with you.
Following the procedure, the area may be slightly puffy for 12-24 hours post procedure.
Do not eat for 4 hours, you may have cold drinks/ smoothies with the straw.
On the night of the procedure wipe lips with warm soapy water and cotton round- every hour after the procedure.
Starting from day 2 you will need to keep your lips clean and hydrated on an as needed basis. (clean morning , night and after food and any potential bacteria exposures).
Using a clean Q-tip apply a VERY thin layer of the ointment/Vaseline in your aftercare kit 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks or until all peels are off. Do not double dip.
DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and loss of pigment.
NO water, acidic cleansers, creams, makeup or any other products on the treated area for 2 weeks.
Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 3-4 weeks after the procedure. This may cause hyperpigmentation if exposed to the UV light.
Avoid hot, long showers, heavy sweating, pools, jacuzzis, and saunas for 10 days.
NO facials treatments, lip injections for a month.
If you do Laser, make sure to inform your technician and cover the area before the procedure. Lasers can remove the pigment and leave blotchy coverage, and/or change the color.
Avoid sleeping on your face for a week.
Drink through a straw, even hot coffee or tea until the lips are healed.
Avoid spicy, salty foods that come into contact with the treated area for a least a week.
Long term care
Once the area has healed, use sunscreen on the treated area daily to prevent pigment from fading prematurely.
The use of skincare products with retinoids and acids around the treated area will cause pigment to fade prematurely.Always remember that Lip tattoo is a 2 step process and touchup is important for full results.
When getting a facial/chemical peel or laser treatment, inform the technician of your permanent cosmetics.
